Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

- Interpret the ISO/IEC 42001 requirements for AI management systems from an auditor’s perspective
- Assess the conformity of an AI management system with ISO/IEC 42001 requirements, applying fundamental audit concepts and principles
- Plan, execute, and close ISO/IEC 42001 compliance audits in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, ISO 19011 guidelines, and established auditing best practices
- Manage an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program effectively

The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” exam satisfies the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It encompasses the following competency domains:
Domain 1: Core principles and concepts of AI management systems
Domain 2: Requirements for AI management systems
Domain 3: Fundamental audit concepts and principles
Domain 4: Preparation for an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 6: Closing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 7: Managing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
Following a successful exam result, candidates may apply for one of four professional credentials, tailored to their level of experience. All credentials necessitate passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
This credential is ideal for those new to the field who have acquired theoretical knowledge but lack practical auditing or industry experience.

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Designed for professionals possessing a foundational level of experience in AI management and auditing.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Two years in total, including at least one year of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities

3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage audit teams for AI management systems.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Five years in total, including at least two years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier, intended for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Ten years in total, including at least seven years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: For audit hours to be recognized by PECB, they must adhere to best practices and include activities such as audit planning, managing audit programs, drafting audit or nonconformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading audit teams.
General
- Certification and examination fees are included in the price of the training course.
- Participants receive comprehensive course materials containing over 450 pages of explanatory content, examples, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- Participants who attend the training course will be issued an attestation of course completion worth 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits.
- If a candidate fails the exam, they are eligible to retake it free of charge within 12 months of their initial attempt.
Requirements
The primary prerequisite for enrolling in this training is a foundational understanding of ISO/IEC 42001, as well as general AI principles and concepts.
