PECB ISO 9001 Certification Path and Requirements
Upon successfully passing the exam, you may apply for one of four professional credentials based on your level of professional experience. All credentials require passing the PECB Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and adherence to the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO 9001 Provisional Auditor
This credential is ideal for newcomers who have mastered the theoretical aspects of quality management but lack practical field experience.

2. Certified ISO 9001 Auditor

Professional Experience: A total of two years, including at least one year specifically in Quality Management

Audit/Project Experience: A minimum of 200 hours of qualifying project and audit activities

3. Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for seasoned professionals fully qualified to plan, execute, and lead Quality Management System (QMS) audit teams.

Professional Experience: A total of five years, including at least two years specifically in Quality Management

4. Certified ISO 9001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest level of certification for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in managing complex Quality Management System audits.

Professional Experience: A total of ten years, including at least seven years specifically in Quality Management

Audit/Project Experience: A minimum of 1,000 hours of qualifying project and audit activities

Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: To satisfy PECB requirements, recorded hours must include active participation in assessment processes, such as audit planning, managing audit programs, documentation review, conducting on-site audits, drafting nonconformity or final reports, and leading audit teams.
